L’hotel Miramare nasce come piccolissimo hotel nel 1980 nel palazzo Marini Devoto, antico palazzo della via Roma ad angolo con via dei Mille e adiacente alla chiesa di San Francesco da Paola, ricadente in parte sull’antico convento dei Minimi.
Questo palazzo costruito nel 1870 è uno fra i più belli della palazzata della via Roma ed è fra i pochi che non subì danneggiamenti durante la seconda guerra mondiale. Fino all’anno 1929 il palazzo era retratto rispetto al resto della palazzata di circa 20mt.
Fra il 1929 e il 1932 si provvide all’allineamento del Palazzo Devoto e della chiesa seicentesca e in origine dotata di prospetto curvilineo doppiamente inflesso e sostituito da un altro neorinascimentale (Tomaso Ferraro).
Il comune di Cagliari diede in concessione gratuita, ai proprietari del palazzo, l’area prospicente, a patto che costruissero a proprie spese la parte rimanente dei portici riallineando cosi la palazzata della via Roma. Oggigiorno
all’interno del Miramare si possono scorgere elementi architettonici risalenti al primo prospetto originario che si affacciava sulla via Roma.
Il piano in cui si sviluppa l’hotel Miramare fu sede del quartier generale dei militari americani durante le ultime fasi della seconda guerra mondiale.

The Miramare hotel was born as a very small hotel in 1980 in the Palazzo Marini Devoto, an ancient building on Via Roma at the corner of Via dei Mille and adjacent to the church of San Francesco da Paola, partly falling on the ancient convent of the Minims.
This palace built in 1870 is one of the most beautiful in the Via Roma building and is one of the few that did not suffer damage during the Second World War. Until 1929, the building was retracted from the rest of the building by about 20 meters.
Between 1929 and 1932, the alignment of Palazzo Devoto and the seventeenth-century church was arranged and originally had a double inflected curved facade and replaced by another neo-Renaissance (Tomaso Ferraro).
The municipality of Cagliari gave the owners of the building a free concession of the facing area, as long as they built the remaining part of the arcades at their own expense, thus realigning the building on Via Roma. Nowadays
inside the Miramare you can see architectural elements dating back to the first original façade that overlooked Via Roma.
The floor on which the Miramare hotel is developed was the headquarters of the American military headquarters during the last phases of the Second World War.
